ABOUT US...
Our love of wine really began some 15 years ago when we visited Ribera del Duero, a superb wine region in mainland Spain. We stayed in a beautiful converted monastery called Hacienda Zorita, which is owned by the Marques de la Concordia estate, where they produce their own wine and a fabulous range of organic foods. Although we have travelled around a number of places since then, this still remains our favourite place.
In 2020, we were able to buy No.7 Long Street in Wotton-under-Edge. Our original idea was to create a wine sales business, starting with family and friends. The plan was to use the old shed at the back of No.7 as our base, hence the name The Wine Shack. Events moved on rapidly and we decided to use the whole of No.7, not just for off-sales, but as a wine and tapas bar. It’s a beautiful Grade II listed building with a warmth and charm which is just perfect for what we want to do.
Our passion is wine and we personally select and research all the products we sell. We want our customers to share the experience and to enjoy good wine. We offer a ‘try before you buy’ tasting on selected wines.
In the wine bar, we will offer good quality wines, craft beers and gins, with a range of tapas, most of which are sourced from local suppliers. We will also offer themed nights where we will serve wines and foods from specific countries. We will hold regular wine tasting sessions with complementary tapas. We have established good relationships with our suppliers, allowing us to secure valuable savings which we can then pass straight on to you as an off-sales customer. We use a trusted courier whose local depot is a few doors away from No.7 and we are always on hand to help with queries - see our delivery information here. Or, you can collect from us in person at No.7.
If you are having a special event, we can provide wines and champagnes. We are happy to arrange tastings so that you can be sure you get exactly what you want. If there is a particular wine you would like us to source, please just ask.
The Wine Shack at No.7 is open for off-sales only at the moment. The main part of the premises will be closed from February to April while we carry out some refurbishments. We hope to open the wine and tapas bar in late spring.
